Ever want to take cooking lessons? Up close and personal from the chef at your favorite restaurant?
Well, you can do that today at Honey Salt‘s SecretBurger event.
What’s a SecretBurger?
In Honey Salt’s argo, a SecretBurger is a special event the restaurant has once or twice a year. Today is 2020’s first SecretBurger event.
The event is titled “Cooking at Home with Chef Kim Canteenwalla and (his wife) Elizabeth Blau.”
The chef has put together a multi-course meal. You go to the restaurant’s web site and order the cooking kit. Then you turn into the restaurant’s Facebook and Instragram pages as they go live and show you how to prepare the ingredients you brought home.
What’s the menu?
The base menu is:
- Watermelon salad. Ingredients include cucumber, tomatoes, feta, fresh mint, balsamic vinegar and olive oil in addition to the watermelon cubes.
- Paella. Loaded with chicken, chorizo, shrimp, pei mussels, bomba rice and saffron.
- Spring berry spoon bread. Fresh blueberries and lemon go on top of a generous scoop McConnell’s ice cream.
The paella arrives ready to heat. You get to put together the watermelon salad and the spring berry spoon bread. Just watch Chef Kim do it first!
The live show starts at 5 pm.
Dinner for two costs $65. Dinner for four will set you back $120.
Add $16 more if you want to sample this luscious cheese and salami board from Cured & Whey. (Is that a great name for a specialty food store or what?) The cheeses include:
- Vermont cheddar
- Wisconsin Ice Berg Bleu
- Old Chatham 3-milk Goat Gouda
- Colorado Mouco-Rouge (it’s the orange one.)
The salami is soppressata from Italy.
Flatbread is included too.
You can spend $35 for a Sangria kit, which includes Marques de Riscal Proximo Rioja, joined by seasonal fruit, Triple Sec, and San Pellegrino Limonata.
Or just buy a bottle of Ontanon Riserva 2011 for $50.
I have been going to Honey Salt’s Farm-to-Table dinners for years. This is a clever way to continue the tradition in the pandemic era.
P.S. They have a sponsor. Cambria Surfaces. They make natural quartz surfaces. The only way to go in my book. Granite is so…yesterday! Once you go quartz, you will never go back!
Be strong. Be safe. BE HEALTHY Las Vegas.
